Chemical stress is a term used when discussing a type of stress which is as a result of the things we put into our system. This is as a result of the constituents of the food we eat. Most at times, a lot of people do not eat a balanced diet and do not have a control of what goes through their mouth into their bodies. Other times the problem is the rate at which a lot of people take in a lot of things. In general we can say stress can also be generated as a result of what we put into our bodies. Caffeine is a stimulating substance found in various forms, you can find the in your coffee, medications, etc. that’s why a lot of individuals result to the use of coffee in the mornings, afternoons or night to keep them up, or active. Prolonged use of this substance is not healthy because in the long run you cannot function without it (caffeine) and you become more stressed out and tired. That is why it is more advisable to use decafe and when using medications that contain caffeine, try to find an alternative or stop immediately after the duration.
Sugar:
This is a sweetener found in various forms. Sugar is a substance that is highly ingested by a lot of persons, and like caffeine is an energy booster. Most people take sugar in an absurdly amount and the prolong intake of this substance in large amounts leads to stress this is because, naturally, our body secretes insulin when we take in large amounts of sugar, now when this occurs, we begin to have low blood sugar this could lead to dizziness, weakness and we get tired too often. The insulin in our bodies is used to control the amount of sugar found in our blood streams now a situation where, there’s too much sugar or too little in our blood, the insulin is going to secrete too much or too little leading too stress of our internal system which will in turn have an effect on you. So it is advisable to lower your sugar intake or take it in moderate proportions.
Nicotine:
This is a substance usually found in cigarettes; people who take this harmful substance medically are prone to die young. Nicotine is a very harmful substance which causes stress weather taken in large or small amounts, it is dangerous. Once an individual starts taking it, it’s very hard to stop; you become dependent on it that is you become an addict. Nicotine increases your heart rate, cause a lot of stress and nervous breakdowns for an individual.
Chemical stress can be controlled by proper exercises, cutting down on substances that won’t do you any good. This way you get to live a healthier and stress free life.

Today stress has become part and parcel of our lives. It has effectively taken a toll on our various schedules in different dimensions. Some are even of the opinion that we cannot run from or evade stress. As we adjust to the ever evolving world we live in today, the normal damages by use on our bodies produces stress. Aside coming in physical forms, stress also comes in emotional forms as well. This can produce positive and negative reactions or feelings. In other words, stress can be positive or negative. Take for instance, a job promotion could make you strive for more and set higher goals for yourself. The normal negative effect stress has especially during the demise of a beloved one. This could generate a chain of negative feelings and reactions of anger and frustration that could lead to health hazards like headaches and sleeplessness (Insomnia). Let’s take a look on some ways of managing the stress in your life.
Some people tend to experience low or even non-existent stress, which they tend to live boring lives, unimportant stress could act like a sedative. In most cases, people tend to be buoyed by the high expectations and deadlines set by supervisors at work which could lead to hard work and excellent performance. The aim here is not to eliminate stress from our lives, and create a more conducive atmosphere to live with.
There is not a favorable stress level that applies to everyone; the optimum level of stress varies with everyone and besides age is a deciding factor. Some tasks could be a kill-joy for an individual, but it could be a source of joy for another. So if there is a stressful task lying ahead of you, you could do yourself a favor by finding a person who enjoys it, then ask for help or discover what makes the task less or not stressful. It could open up your mind and improving your skills and potentials by stretching yourself. We all have our in-born gifts, by stretching; you can move that mountain of stress before you.
The first step is by identifying the various stresses in your life and where they come from. If a routine task is particularly stressful, be wary of it. Do not ignore those factors responsible for stress in your life. Ignoring them could only further worsen your situation and deprive you of a change in your life. As soon as these factors responsible for stress are discovered, find out how you actually respond to them, how you well-being and body reacts to them. Do you go ill, dejected?
The next step is for you to know what can change. Can you avoid these factors completely? If you cannot completely avoid them, is there a way of minimizing its frequency. Stress could come as a result of over-reacting or sudden impulse of fear which only worsens the situation.
Learn to react positively. Stay in charge of your emotions. Try breathing slowly and deeply to convey a message to your body system that all is well and there is no room for panic. There is also a great need for you to understand where your stress comes from and learn to manage it effectively.

I have seen the movie, “Waiting to Exhale”, but I wasn’t quite sure what those women were waiting to exhale about or why they were even holding their breath, but I do know what it means to me now, since I retired!
Retirement to me (and I am sure many others that are retired), is a wonderful thing! Not just not having to work an 8 to 4 or 9 to 5 job, but knowing that you have the freedom and the option to work, or not, if you so desire – Learning to Exhale!
I know that the economy is truly in a bad state, right now, and I know that there are so many people that are constantly losing their jobs, and sometimes their hope, but being retired to me has made me appreciate so much more in my life that I would have missed out or would have been too exhausted to enjoy. Things that I usually would have put off before by using excuses or complaining about – is now no longer a part of my vocabulary.
So many friends and family often think that I had this thought processed at an early age when I first began working, but it is further from the truth. I never sat down and set goals that stated I would retire in 30 years and what I would do afterwards. I didn’t because “life happens” all the time and I am smart enough to know that much.
In those 30 years that I worked, I have loss loved ones, I have been divorced, I have been abused in my marriages, and talked about and lied on at the job, but during that period, I still didn’t figure out what waiting to exhale was all about.
I endured many difficult situations, but I learned to separate my personal home life from my work environment. It didn’t come easy, but my spiritual life had to take an extra leap forward and I had to take an extra step backward to allow God to be more present in my life more than ever.
I truly know that I am blessed and highly favored and that I am blessed to still be married to a good, hard-working man. I have a wonderful son and a terrific grandson. Life is Good, God is Good and Retirement is a wonderful thing!
Now I can “exhale”!
I am a retired 53 year old African-American woman after 30 years of service with the City of Detroit, July, 2008. Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/stress-management-articles/retirement-learning-to-exhale-917804.html
Millions of people around the world suffer from chronic headache, and I am one of them. Fortunately, I have found therapies that allow me to cope with this condition and ease my suffering. One of the major treatments I rely on is regular massage therapy here in Tampa. Massage has been my salvation in 33629.
Types of Chronic Headache
Chronic headache can occur for about 15 days in every month, staying several days in a row. It is important to ask for a medical work up to rule out any other underlying medical condition that may be causing it. Knowing that what you have is simply chronic headache will in itself give great relief.
The four categories of chronic headache are chronic migraine, chronic tension headache, hemicrania continua and a new type of daily persistent headache.
Chronic migraine headache may be one sided, could be pulsating or throbbing, and could be made worse with movement.
Chronic migraine sufferers may experience nausea or vomiting, as well as sensitivity to bright lights and noise.
Chronic tension headache is felt on both sides of the head, could be a pressing or constricting pain, and may also include nausea and sensitivity to bright lights and noise. The new type of persistent daily headache observed by researchers is similar to chronic tension headache in all respects, but stays for days at a time.
Hemicrania continua, on the other hand, is not only daily but presents periods of intense pain within days of moderate pan. The headache is accompanied by a runny nose or nasal congestion, swollen or droopy eyelids and red or teary eyes.
I experience all four types of chronic headaches. The good news is that all of them are equally alleviated by the massage therapy recommended by my Tampa medical specialist.
Massage Therapy for Chronic Headache
Chronic headache is often caused by muscular tension or vascular swelling and constriction. Massage relaxes the muscles, muscle spasms are relieved and blood circulation is normalized. This, in turn, frees up the blood vessels and brings down swelling.
Whoever my massage therapist of the moment is in 33629, I let her know of my condition so that she can customize the massage according to my special needs. Aside from specialized massage for my headaches, though, I also enjoy the Swedish massage given by my Tampa therapist. The gentle lengthwise strokes along my muscles really soothe me. On the other hand, there is also an intense deep tissue massage given by my Tampa masseuse that digs out hidden knots in my muscles.
Another area where massage really helps my chronic headache is with my fitness regimen. Exercise is a crucial part of chronic headache treatment but without proper preparation and support, exertion itself may also trigger more headaches. Massage therapy is, therefore, a requirement of my Tampa trainer. To help my body before and after workouts, I undergo sports massage with my Tampa therapist.
When I got pregnant, I thought it would be a problem. I was so happy to learn that I would not have to stop my massage therapy sessions with my Tampa therapist. In fact, there was a specific pregnancy massage introduced to me by my Tampa masseuse. It helped me not only with my headaches but with all the other discomforts of pregnancy, as well.
Not only is there a massage therapy for my every need according to my Tampa bodywork specialists, but I can also get it in many convenient locations. My massage therapist recommended a place in Downtown Tampa. She said I could also get a good massage in their branch in South Tampa, and the same massage service in Hyde Park. I could even get the same massage if I happen to be in Macdill AFB.
It is such a comfort knowing I will always have accessible massage therapy to relieve my chronic headache.

In today’s society of fast paced living, who isn’t stressed? Everything must be done in a rush, and there is no time to just sit and relax. We feel we must do more and in a hurry to keep up with the world around us. We also find it hard to refuse people and can’t say no to their requests, which adds more stress to our already stressful life. I have to tell you, if you’re stressed you must continue to read and take action to lower your stress levels, insha’Allaah. The following are some tips to help you insha’Allaah:
Listen to the Qur’aan, paying attention to the meaning. This is the most soothing part of my stressful day; I will listen to Surah Ar-Rahmaan; sometimes I will even cry as I am listening to this surah, to let everything out, and yet remember, “Which of His favors can we ever deny”. It just humbles me, and reminds me of my blessings and it calms me down tremendously alhamdulillaah.
Pray 2 rakaah nafl. Sometimes we need to stop everything when we’re stressed, make wudhoo, and pray 2 rakaah nafl, and cry it out to Allaah (SWT). It is only He that can relieve us of our stress. Go to Him, and tell Him, and ask Him for mercy and help.
Make sure you are not dehydrated. Drink lots of water, or green tea. Have at least 8 cups to make sure you’re hydrated through out the day; this alone has been a major stress reducer. Dehydration is also the cause of many headaches. We often forget to take care of ourselves, and water is one drink that many of us do not drink enough of; put sticky notes up everywhere to drink 8 cups a day, to remind you, insha’Allaah.
Say “No” to extra work. You have to set boundaries. Just let people know kindly that you can’t do certain things, and that you already have enough on your plate. Learn to say “NO”. This has been one of the hardest things for me to do. So I know it can be tough, but after awhile you will realize it’s not so bad, insha’Allaah.
Stop procrastinating and get things done. De-cluttering helps the mind relax, while mess causes the mind stress As a mom I hate my house to be messy. Seeing it that way stresses me out. When I see it messy I must leave my work and take out 15 minutes to clean it up, and then go back to what I was doing. The hard part is doing it, yet, after I have cleaned the mess I feel relieved, and happy to be back at work.
5 times a day. Usually our day is so jam-packed that we forget to enjoy it. We’re always in a hurry to do one thing and then the next. Stop for a moment, and relax. Think of something funny, or go online and sign up for the joke of the day. This way you make sure you smile at least once every day. You know it only takes 17 muscles in our face to smile, and 41 to frown.
“They ask you (O Muhammad) what they should spend in charity. Say: ‘Whatever you spend with a good heart, give it to parents, relatives, orphans, the helpless, and travelers in need. Whatever good you do, God is aware of it.’” – The Holy Quran, 2:215

Most of us have not come to terms with the potential harm stress which are done daily to the human body, mind and soul. It has become one of the most prevalent issues in our society and workplace today. If this monster is not effectively curtailed, it will continue to take its toll on our physical and emotional well-being consequently on our work and efficiency.
A major reason responsible for this monster ball is time management. Most individuals feel stressed up simply because they cannot effectively manage their time. Running from one deadline to another, stress slowly catches up on them and before they know it there is a break down in their central nervous system.
From time to time, scheduling our schedule by the hour has been given as the easy way out, but it seems it is so difficult to do. Creating equilibrium in your schedule which includes work, social, hobbies, family activities, church meetings as well as sleep hours could just do the trick. When I wake up in the morning, I take the time to write a list of my activities for the day on a piece of paper and review constantly as the day wears on. Technology has even aided time management. With Organizers, PDAs and pocket PCs, you could create a to-do list that holds details of your day to day activities.
Do not take more than you can chew. Maintain a schedule you can comfortably work with. Avoid cramping up your schedule with onerous tasks that could affect your commitment.
Set priorities on your tasks schedule. Prioritize your tasks, so that you could understand which is the most important and the least important to you. If there is a big or major task ahead, it would do you well to sub-divide this task so as to tackle it.
Learn to seek other people’s input. You don’t necessarily have to do the tasks all by yourself. Remember you have colleagues at your workplace, you can delegate responsibilities if you are a leader or you seek assistance where need be. Don’t assume more responsibility than you can handle.
Try as much as possible to take the time out to relax. This is very essential, take relaxation sessions every day and ensure nothing comes in any way to disrupt this. Taking a self-hypnosis session everyday could just be what you need. This is a sleeplike state in which the mind responds to external suggestion and can recover forgotten (lovely) memories.
Consequently I cannot stress the importance of staying and optimistic. Scientific studies and research have proven that a great level of optimism could combat stress effectively. Looking forward to a very good day every morning could just be the spark! Keeping your mind shut out of pessimism and negativity would do a lot to the human mind. So, whatever the circumstance, focus on the blessings that come your way and be grateful. And as that popular adage says ‘Every disappointment is a blessing disguise’ with these formulas, you could effectively manage any form of stress coming your way.

Time has not been on your side. You barely have time to take care of the little ones and work full time! There just never seems to be enough time to do everything, let alone go back to school and attain or complete your college degree.
Finances are an issue now adding a tuition check to each month’s budget does not seem like an option. What do you do? The US Census Bureau reports that about 20% of American families are single-parent households, and in most case the breadwinner is a mother. In addition 95% of the single parents make less than $75,000 a year in income. So, for many going back to school without some form of financial aid is not an option.
The US Department of Labor reports that most mother who work have full time jobs. When they get home they spend another ten hours cooking, cleaning, running errands, running car poolings, playing with the kids, washing and doing laundry in addition to their other responsibilities.
Good news for working parents! There is a variety of programs available for working parents to support them financially. There are several accredited colleges and universities with online and distance learning options for parents who need to be flexible. In addition there are many financial resources available for working moms. Many government and private organization also have fund specifically reserved for working parents.
The first step is to figure what you want to go back to school for. Then, find out the available financial options from the prospective college. This information can be obtained from the college’s financial aid office. In-depth Internet research will also yield you various results. In addition, going to the local library and looking through the annual scholarship books is always a good recommendation. One thing to remember though – watch for the deadlines and make sure you submit your application on time. Also determine the application materials that should be submitted such as letters of recommendation or essays and prepare those ahead of time. In addition, be sure to apply for the right scholarships. Some are quite specific in their criteria. For example some scholarships are only available for student in certain areas such as engineering or science.
The next step has to do with time management. Given all your responsibilities, adding classes to your list can sound quite daunting. Develop a routine and stick to it. Make your family stick to it as well. For example ensure that the children’s bedtime is well established so that you can study without interruptions after putting them to bed. Also, you can prepare lunches the evening before to save you time in the morning. Delegate responsibilities to the family so that you don’t have to try and do it all alone. This will help you feel less stressed and help you focus more on your school work. Keeping a daily planner and using it regularly will also help you have an idea of your home, class, and work activities without making you feel flustered.
When it comes to doing well in school, apply a few strategies to help you succeed. At the beginning of the school term, determine what is expected from each of your classes and what the instructor needs from you during the semester. Next, read the syllabus in depth, noting deadlines, milestones, and assignment and exam dates. Add these to your planner and begin working on them ahead of time.
Dont wait until the last minute to start working on your big class project or term paper. Creating self-deadlines is a good strategy get this going. Be sure to prioritize your assignments and your work or home activities ensuring nothing gets pushed back. Pace yourself and do not be afraid to ask for help. It is also very important to be self confident and to tell yourself you can do it.

The United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel, completed in 1962, is the distinguishing feature of the Cadet Area at the United States Air Force Academy. It was designed by renowned architect Walter Netsch of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of Chicago. Construction was accomplished by Robert E. McKee, Inc., of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Originally controversial in its design, the Cadet Chapel has become a classic and highly regarded example of modernist architecture. The Cadet Chapel was awarded the American Institute of Architects’ National 25 Year Award in 1996, and as part of the Cadet Area, was named a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 2004.
Architecture and construction
The most striking aspect of the Chapel is its row of seventeen spires. The original design called for nineteen spires, but this number was reduced due to budget issues. The structure is a tubular steel frame of 100 identical tetrahedrons, each 75feet (23m) long, weighing five tons, and enclosed with clear aluminum panels. The panels were fabricated in Missouri and shipped by rail to the site. The tetrahedrons are spaced a foot apart, creating gaps in the framework that are filled with one-inch thick colored glass. The tetrahedrons comprising the spires are filled by triangular clear aluminum panels, while the tetrahedrons between the spires are filled with a mosaic of colored glass in aluminum frame.
The Cadet Chapel itself is 150feet (46m) high, 280feet (85m) long, and 84feet (26m) wide. The front fa?ade, on the south, has a wide granite stairway with steel railings capped by aluminum handrails leading up one story to a landing. At the landing is a band of gold anodized aluminum doors, and gold anodized aluminum sheets apparently covering original windows.
The shell of the chapel and surrounding grounds cost $3.5 million to build. Various furnishings, pipe organs, liturgical fittings and adornments of the chapel were presented as gifts from various individuals and organizations. In 1959, a designated Easter offering was also taken at Air Force bases around the world to help complete the interior.
Worship areas
The Cadet Chapel was designed specifically to house three distinct worship areas under a single roof. Inspired by chapels at Sainte-Chapelle in France and the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi in Italy, architect Walter Netsch stacked the spaces on two main levels. The Protestant nave is located on the upper level, while the Catholic and Jewish chapels and one all-faiths room are located beneath it. Beneath this level is a larger all-faiths room and two meeting rooms. Each chapel has its own entrance, and services may be held simultaneously without interfering with one another.
Protestant chapel
Interior of the Protestant Chapel
The organ at the back of the Protestant Chapel, and the ceiling
The Protestant Chapel is located on the main floor, and is designed to seat 1200 individuals. The nave measures 64 by 168feet (51m), reaching up to 94feet (29m) at the highest peak. The center aisle terminates at the chancel.
The Chapel’s tetrahedrons form the walls and the pinnacled ceiling of the Protestant Chapel.
